E SMITH

Eric Travon Smith (born January 7, 1983), , at Pitt County Memorial hospital in Greenville North Carolina, came into the world quite diferent. single Mother Dores Evette Smith 16 at the time was giveing birth to idenicale twin boys Derick and Eric Smith. The brotherly bond would be sadly short lived as older brother Derick looses his young 3month old life to menenjideus.Growing up in the rual area of Green County E was always listening 2 the radio and found himself learning song at an amazing ability. This made the young kid fall in love with music. especially this young fresh sound called hip hop , E. became widely recognized by his peers for his uncanny ability to rap. At the school he would spitt in the mornings before class in siphers and lunch room battles. the word spred that this young kid thats nice. Moveing from Greenville To Farmville N.C houseing Project E quickly had to gain his statoius in the streets being that Farmville, Green County and Greenvile has always had some what of a beef beetween each other. E was the new kid with a supa cool swag. by haveing such a young mother he did and seen things that most kids his age was a million miles away from. This gave him a level of maturity that made the older cats rock with him. Battleing cats twice his age and living the life he was spitting gained him respect in the hood. E. Smith’s mother later became romantically involved with David Earl Barnes (also known as Pops), who took young E. Smith under his wings and educated him concerning the harsh realities of street life. David Barnes would later be arrested, once again leaving young E. Smith without the presence of a male figure. While Barnes was incarcerated, conjugal visits from young Smith would later lead to him meeting and freestyling on a regular basis with Moses Barret (today known as Petey Pablo), a fellow inmate of Barnes’. E. Smith would go on to attend Farmville Central High School , but did not graduate. By this time school played a distant second to making money so E began selling drugs, to which he references in his music. Smith would move to Charlotte, NC in early 2000 with hopes of pursuing his dream of becoming a rapper. Once in Charlotte, Smith was introduced to a group named Dirty 130.

Smith would later join Dirty 130 and later go to record a hit single that circulated throughout the Charlotte community radio station. Dirty 130 performed numerous shows as well as openings for mainstream acts such as Cash Money and Nappy Roots. The group went on to sell over 10,000 copies of their record independently in the Charlotte area. With aspirations of one day becoming a solo artist, Smith decided that it was in his best interest to depart the group. In 2002 Smith returned back home to Greenville. Back in Greenville Smith linked up with his old high school friend Todd Tyson who was also pursuing the same music dream but from an engineering/production perspective. Tyson had undeniable faith in Smith’s talent and together they formed the record company "Carolina Presidential". While at home Smith traveled back and forth to Atlanta where he would later meet Thomas "Tommy Gunz" Simons (formerly of "Blackout Movement"). Smith and Tommy developed a positive working relationship, one that required Smith to travel to and from Atlanta a lot. With no steady income, Smith quickly realized that he needed to generate some source of income, so he began hustling again. A run-in with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Department late 2003, early 2004 would result in Smith being incarcerated for drug activity. While incarcerated, Smith had ample time to think about his life and the manner in-which it was unfolding. It was at that defining moment that Smith decided to take his destiny in his own hands and become more focused on his music. Once released in 2006, Smith realized that it was definitely time to take a more proactive approach towards his career, so he took a trip to Miami, FL. In Miami, Smith reunited with Tommy Gunz, Winston "Blackout" Thomas and the entire "Blackout Movement" family. Smith also developed a working and personal relationship with an up and coming New York rapper named "MIMS". Smith went on to develop working relationships with numerous individuals to include "DirTeRed" from Florida. In late 2006 Smith recorded his first hit single that featured Bun B, entitled "I'll Do It 2 Ya."

New News

First I would like to acknowledge an artist that has really made an impact to the game. Originally from Liberia Africa... I present to you..2C.

2C is Finally Here. With over 1,250,000 Myspace hits and counting, performances throughout the east coast including BET 106 and Park WildOut Wednesday, 2C is grinding his way to the top Born May 16, 1987, Romeo Mulbah a.k.a. “2C” is hip-hop’s newest lyrical phenom. 2C relocated to the U.S. along with his sister and two brothers in 1992 after a short stint in exile in neighboring Ivory Coast due to the Liberian civil war. His humble introduction to the hip-hop game began with an old tape recorder in his New Orleans apartment bedroom.

“When people hear I’m from Africa, they tend to underestimate me. But when I hit the stage I leave no doubt that I’m a serious contender. I’m bringing something new to the Hip Hop game. Plus I got a whole nation behind me (Liberia) and all the struggles we’ve been through.” 2C has been featured on MTV base, BET Jazz, The Africa Channel, radio stations in the US, United Kingdom, and Liberia.

To start things off we look at one of the future legends of the south – Yo Gotti.

While it is unclear with our sources as to if he is still under the production contract with Cash Money/Universal Records, Yo Gotti has the streets on lock again. With his hit single “Sold Out” in heavy rotation throughout the nation, Yo Gotti has been doing just that… selling out. Yung Ralph has been reported to have inked a big deal with Big Cat Records. Ralph’s singles “About a Chic” and “Fall Back” have the continued support of DJs. DG Yola returns to Power Hittas after a brief time with Hitt Afta Hitt. We don’t believe that there was a falling out and we think it’s all positive. DG Yola’s single “She Likes It” get rave reviews. J Money has signed a futuristic deal with Universal Records. With the hottest songs in the clubs right now, “1st Name Last Name” and “How we play”, DJ Kuttthroat (J Money’s Official DJ) claims that “every city has shown love and they know all his songs… it’s a movement.” FLY’s “Swag Surfing” gave them the black ink to sign with Def Jam as they prepare for summer surf.

The Shop Boyz are still ON DECK with On Deck Records as they continue to set the pace with the new sound of the swag movement. They have so many songs in rotation now that we don’t have time to type but just know that “Imma Ball”, “Would you like” and “Still Shop” will get the DJ through the night without having a riot. “My Patna Dem” Rich Kids inks with the legendary Grand Hustle Records prior to the boss having to serve his term…. Stay up TIP!

CTE seems to be preparing for a big future as the sign JW, BAMA & Boo Rossini. JW has a strong foundation of support in several states with his single “Baik at it”. Bama has “I know how to surf” while being acclaimed to have invented the actual swag surfing dance with his crew. Boo Rossini has “Baby Powder” that features label mate Young Jeezy.

Finally we have Drake. We believe he is still under Young Money/Cash Money label but this guy came out of nowhere and we are still digging. Drake’s singles “Best I ever had” and “Every Girl” are the ladies delight. This guy can really rap too.

What's Hot!!??!!

As to what’s hot…. The 285 Boys have made their mark with “My Folk”. Shawty Boy signed with Def Jam for “They like my swag”. Money Maker Records returns to the spotlight with The Go Gettaz single “Run the money Up”. The next African sensation since Akon will be the young artist by the name 2C as his single “I want her” takes center stage. Bourne Serious has a hot single called “Bring it back” as this duo makes its claim with PDT Records. Prynce… no not Prince but PRYNCE get the support of Greg Street with “Go Outside” as he give the game some lyrical stimulus. Young Ace Skrilla get back in the swing with a highly talked about mix cd to come. Last but not least is the Hottest Song in the club right now… Loved by female and males alike is “Try it out” by Black of Duct Tape Records. This song which also features Kandi has the club going crazy. Any DJs that don’t believe me…. Try it out…lol
